Garren Hahn is the director of Intellectual Ventures Laboratory, where he oversees concept development, prototype manufacturing, and testing services. With more than two decades of experience in advanced manufacturing—including work in the space, energy, and medical sectors—Garren brings deep technical expertise and a collaborative mindset to every project.
At Intellectual Ventures Laboratory, Garren drives cross-functional coordination across engineering, machining, inspection, and testing disciplines. His leadership fosters a streamlined, creative environment where teams are empowered to push boundaries and deliver precision-engineered solutions at speed.
A Washington native with a passion for technology and adventure, Garren is also an avid outdoorsman, board game enthusiast, and skydiver.
Research and Development Lead
Russell Canlas leads research and development efforts at Intellectual Ventures Laboratory. A lifelong experimenter and problem solver, Russell brings more than 20 years of hands-on prototyping experience and over 15 years in scientific and verification testing to his role.
A Seattle native with a background in electronics and mechanics, Russell is known for his problem-solving skills, inventive thinking, and ability to translate complex ideas into real-world solutions. His career spans impactful work in life-enhancing and life-saving technologies, including Physio-Control and a 12-year tenure at Mettler Toledo Autochem.
At Intellectual Ventures Laboratory, Russell heads a multidisciplinary team of engineers, computer scientist, master electrician, and an artisan woodworker. Together, they push the boundaries of innovation, turning whiteboard concepts into functional prototypes that improve the human experience.
When not at the Lab, Russell can be found testing his patience and precision fishing the coastal waters and rivers of the Pacific Northwest.
